The Greenwood Women’s Business Center Partners with Babson College and Local Universities on Women Innovating NOW (WIN) Entrepreneurial Lab

[June 29, 2022] Tulsa, OK – The Greenwood Women’s Business Center is extending its services to offer an entrepreneurial lab for emerging women leaders. The Women Innovating NOW (WIN) Entrepreneurial Lab is an initiative led by Babson College in collaboration with local Tulsa universities – Langston University (an Historically Black College and University), Oklahoma State University, Tulsa Community College, and Tulsa Tech. Part of Babson’s Center for Women Leadership (CWEL) program, this new learning lab is the third in a continuation of the commitment that Babson and the WBC have to women entrepreneurs. The WIN Lab is made possible through a grant given to Babson College from FedEx Corp. It’s a first-of-its-kind program helping women entrepreneurs launch successful businesses and create economic and social impact.
This new lab initiative, located on the same floor as the Greenwood Women’s Business Center at 102 N. Greenwood Avenue, 2nd Floor, Tulsa, OK, is located in the historical Greenwood section of Tulsa and in one of the remaining buildings left standing after the Tulsa Massacre 100 years ago, is a centerpiece in the initiative to “Help Rebuild Black Wall Street” preserving the legacy of this historic district.
Dr. Shakenna Wlliams, executive director of Babson’s CWEL, spearheaded the Tulsa WIN Lab project. “We are grateful to have been invited by the U.S. Black Chambers of Commerce Inc. and look forward to working collaboratively with this distinguished organization in advancing opportunities for women entrepreneurs,” said Dr. Williams. “Our WBC appreciates the continuing partnerships with colleges and universities to bring much-needed resources that can help grow women-owned businesses,” said Alisa Joseph, Vice President, USBC Community Economic Development Corporation.
The announcement will be made at the WBC Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce is proud to be part of this initiative to connect our local universities in a project that prepares more local women entrepreneurs and offers world-class programming,” said Dr. Freeman Culver, Executive Director. “This is another step that USBC is taking to expand the role of women entrepreneurs in the fabric of Tulsa. This initiative expands our counseling and technical assistance resources with accelerator programs, access to capital and resources designed to help women entrepreneurs effectively compete,” says USBC President & CEO, Ron Busby.
