Maryna Moroz has withdrawn from her fourth straight fight in the UFC and Sijara Eubanks will replace her against Luana Carolina at UFC Vegas 40 on Oct. 16, multiple people with knowledge of the change told MMA Fighting.
It’s still unclear what forced Moroz off the card. The Ukrainian flyweight hasn’t competed since a win over Mayra Bueno Silva in March 2020, cancelling bouts with Montana De La Rosa, Taila Santos, and Manon Fiorot since.
Eubanks (7-6) will return to the octagon less than three months after her first-round stoppage victory over previously unbeaten Elise Reed, which snapped a two-fight losing skid.
Carolina (7-2) won a split decision over fellow Brazilian flyweight Poliana Botelho this past May, her first appearance since suffering a serious injury in a kneebar loss Ariane Lipski in July 2020.
UFC Vegas 40 will go down at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas and feature Holly Holm vs. Norma Dumont in a five-round main event following the cancellation of original headliner Ketlen Vieira vs. Miesha Tate.
