Why watch:  Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma started 2022 very poorly, with two defeats against AC Milan and Juventus. They desperately need a positive reaction in Sunday’s match against Cagliari, who, after winning only one match in the first part of the season, won the first two games of the year against Sampdoria and Bologna. Coach Walter Mazzarri has now managed to find a starting eleven that can give fans hope that maybe they”http://www.cbssports.com/” stay in the league at the end of the season. A negative result for AS Roma, on the other hand, would open a real crisis for the team and for Jose Mourinho himself

Why watch:  Bologna host Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli, who were just eliminated in the Coppa Italia in a wild match against Fiorentina. The visiting team is missing Victor Osimhen whose recovery from an eye injury has been delayed by a positive COVID-19 test, though the situation means he did not travel with Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations and should be able to return to Napoli when healthy., Bologna has been the team most hurt by COVID-19 cases in the recent weeks. Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic expressed his disappointment during the last post-match press conference regarding the new rules that have been established to avoid further postponements of matches. Bologna and Napoli have drawn only two of their last 17 Serie A meetings at the Dall’Ara, with eight wins for the Rossoblu and seven wins for Napoli in the process.

4. AC Milan vs. Spezia

  • Date: Monday, Jan. 17 | Time: 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Paramount+

Why watch: In December Spezia coach Thiago Motta was one step away from being fired. Then a sensational victory against Napoli postponed the decision to January, and now it seems impossible he could be at risk, after last week’s victory against direct rival Genoa. They have another very difficult match this weekend, against AC Milan at San Siro. Milan are 2nd in Serie A with 48 points through 21 matches, and if Inter Milan lose points against Atalanta on Sunday, the Rossoneri might be the Serie A leaders by Monday night, with one more game played than their opponents. Their first match against Spezia this season is best remembered for the first Serie A goal by Daniel Maldini, son of the legend Paolo, current sport director of AC Milan.

5. Juventus vs. Udinese

  • Date: Saturday, Jan. 15 | Time: 2.45 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook odds: Juventus -280; Draw +360; Udinese +900

Featured Game | Juventus vs. Udinese

Why watch: Juventus need quickly to forget last Wednesday’s defeat against Inter Milan in the Supercoppa. The best chance to do so is to win at home against Udinese. Coach Massimiliano Allegri can count on Matthijs de Ligt and Juan Cuadrado to return after their suspensions, while there will be no Federico Chiesa, who was injured last weekend and will miss the rest of the season. Juventus are 5th in Serie A with 38 points through 21 matches and are coming off an incredible comeback against AS Roma. Udinese must try not to lose points so as not to find themselves in a complicated position at the risk of relegation.
