An AFC East clash is on tap Sunday when the New England Patriots visit the New York Jets. Both teams feature rookie quarterbacks who are searching for their first NFL wins after Week 1 defeats. New England had a costly late fumble as it succumbed 17-16 to the Dolphins, while the Jets’ 19-14 loss to Carolina wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.
Kickoff for Jets vs. Patriots is set for 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The Patriots are listed as six-point favorites in the latest Patriots vs. Jets odds, while the over-under for total points scored is 43. Week 2 NFL picks for Jets vs. Patriots
Before you tune in to Sunday’s Patriots vs. Jets game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine’s advanced computer model. After giving up six sacks vs. the Panthers, New York will be without starting tackle Mekhi Becton against New England, and the SportsLine model also shows the Jets averaging less than four yards per carry on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Patriots are by no means an offensive juggernaut and they could only muster one touchdown versus the Dolphins. The team was also unusually sloppy as four different Patriots fumbled, with the team losing two of those. Jets coach Robert Saleh, who was the defensive coordinator for the 49ers‘ 2019 Super Bowl team, will throw lots of different looks Mac Jones‘ way, unlike ones the rookie has ever seen before. Both defenses are ahead of their offenses at this point of the season, so the model acknowledges we’re in store for a low-scoring affair.
