NFL DFS, Week 17: Optimal DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy football picks, stacks, lineup advice

Written by on January 1, 2022

At some point every season, Rex Burkhead is brought up as a capable injury replacement in both season-long and NFL DFS lineups. Those who subscribed to him got way more than they bargained for last week, when he ran for a career-high 149 yards and two touchdowns in Houston’s 41-29 upset win over the Los Angeles Chargers. His breakout was just the 12th start of his career, but should he be part of your NFL DFS strategy for Week 17?

Houston has nothing left to play for this season and faces a San Francisco defense that has allowed just one opponent to run for more than 100 yards over the last seven weeks. Before locking in your Week 17 NFL DFS picks, be sure to check out the NFL DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a legendary professional DFS player with almost $2 million in career winnings. His methodology has led to enormous cashes on FanDuel and DraftKings. He took down two high-stakes tournaments on FanDuel in 2020 and recorded a pair top-10 finishes in tournaments with over 130,000 entrants on DraftKings. His lineups also finished inside the top 1 percent in more than a dozen other tournaments last season.

He uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every snap of NFL action, taking factors such as matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account. This allows him to find the best DFS values that he shares only with members at SportsLine.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Week 17 slate of games and locked in his top daily Fantasy football picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NFL DFS picks for Week 17

One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Week 17 is  Chiefs running back Darrel Williams ($5,800 on DraftKings and $6,200 on FanDuel). He led the Chiefs’ backfield last Sunday following a collarbone injury to starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Another Kansas City running back, Derrick Gore, has shown that he is capable of producing in the offense, but Williams has the trust of head coach Andy Reid after having been on the team for over three years. Kansas City has passed to its running backs 100 times this season and Williams has been the target on 50 of them. The Bengals haven’t been strong at stopping running backs in the passing game, so Williams should find a way to be productive.

Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy includes rostering Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown ($6,100 on DraftKings and $8,500 on FanDuel). With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, Brown was the Bucs’ featured receiver last week and posted a 10-101 stat line. He was also targeted 15 times by Tom Brady, which is his most since he was a Steeler back in 2018.

Godwin is out for the season, while Evans has a hamstring injury and was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list, so he’s unlikely to go on Sunday. Thus, Brown should see a similar number of targets from Brady, who threw just three other passes to all other Bucs’ receivers combined in Week 16. If that wasn’t enough to sway you in rostering Brown, then the fact that Tampa takes on the Jets‘ defense should do the trick since New York ranks last in points allowed and yards allowed.

How to set NFL DFS lineups for Week 17

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Sunday. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here
