After the international break, Ralf Rangnick and Manchester United will face a big test as they welcome Leicester City to town. The Foxes have been playing better as of late with three wins in their last five matches but without Jamie Vardy, getting past the United defense will be easier said than done. After Portugal qualified for the World Cup behind performances from Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, and Cristiano Ronaldo, they’ll want to translate that to the Premier League as United risks falling out of Champions League contention.

But with the managerial search taking center stage for Manchester United during the international break will that cause issues during the rest of the season? With Erik ten Hag rumors gaining steam this could end up being a lame duck period.

Storylines

Manchester United: Fernandes committing his future to Manchester United this week was a big step for them but there are still questions as to what the best XI is for the team. Marcus Rashford has still yet to find his form of last season and the team has also looked vulnerable without Nemanja Matic in midfield. Rangnick will need to find a way to cope with this as Matic can’t play every game.

Leicester City: With Wesley Fofana set to return for the Foxes, the defensive improvement could come immediately to help them contain United. Timothy Castagne has already returned as well. Leicester are getting healthier by the day at a time that they need it. While securing a Europa League spot would seem far-fetched they still have games in hand which could make things interesting down the stretch.

Prediction

Ronaldo seems to want to pull United as far as he can take him and Leicester won’t have an answer for him on a mission. Pick: Manchester United 2, Leicester City 1
