Who’s Playing
Los Angeles @ Tampa Bay
Regular Season Records: Los Angeles 12-5; Tampa Bay 13-4
What to Know
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 1-3 against the Los Angeles Rams since September of 2016, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Sunday. Tampa Bay will duke it out with Los Angeles in the second round of the playoffs at Raymond James Stadium at 3 p.m. ET.
The Buccaneers didn’t have too much trouble with the Philadelphia Eagles at home last week as they won 31-15. Tampa Bay can attribute much of their success to WR Mike Evans, who caught nine passes for one TD and 117 yards, and QB Tom Brady, who passed for two TDs and 271 yards on 37 attempts. Brady ended up with a passer rating of 157.70.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing last Monday. They took their game against the Arizona Cardinals by a conclusive 34-11 score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21 to nothing. It was another big night for Los Angeles’ QB Matthew Stafford, who passed for two TDs and 202 yards on 17 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Buccaneers going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Tampa Bay, who are 8-8 against the spread.
A couple offensive stats to keep an eye on: Tampa Bay comes into the game boasting the most passing touchdowns in the NFL at 43. Los Angeles is not quite as good, but they are no chumps, either: they enter the matchup with 41 passing touchdowns, good for second best in the league.
