What to Know
An AFC North battle is on tap between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati will be strutting in after a victory while Baltimore will be stumbling in from a defeat.
It’s always hard to lose, and it’s even harder to lose by a single point. Just ask the Ravens, the unfortunate recipient of a 31-30 loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers last week. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Baltimore was outplayed the rest of the way. Baltimore’s loss came about despite a quality game from QB Tyler Huntley, who passed for two TDs and 215 yards on 40 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 73 yards. Huntley ended up with a passer rating of 131.70. Huntley’s sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Cincinnati beat the Denver Broncos 15-10 last week. Cincinnati’s WR Tyler Boyd filled up the stat sheet, catching five passes for one TD and 96 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Boyd’s 56-yard TD reception down the left side of the field in the third quarter.
Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed nine. K Evan McPherson delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
The Bengals’ win brought them up to 8-6 while the Ravens’ defeat pulled them down to an identical 8-6. Both teams are in the playoff hunt, so this is a critical contest.
A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Baltimore enters the matchup with only 86.2 rushing yards allowed per game on average, which is the best in the NFL. As for Cincinnati, they come into the contest boasting the third most sacks in the league at 40.
