The Kansas City Chiefs had no problem scoring points against the Pittsburgh Steelers during Sunday’s Wild Card matchup. They found the end zone six different times and came away with a 42-21 win at home. There’s no such thing as scoring too many points in an NFL game, but the Chiefs lit the scoreboard up so much it did pose a problem at Arrowhead Stadium.

There were not enough fireworks to shoot off because they scored too many touchdowns. You could say the offense was too … explosive.

It’s a tad surprising that the home stadium of Patrick Mahomes didn’t have enough fireworks on hand to support the amount of points that he’s able to put on the board. Mahomes ended up completing 30-of-39 passes for 404 yards and five touchdowns in the win.

During the 2021 regular season, the Chiefs scored 40+ points three times. In addition, Kansas City has topped the 40-point mark 12 times since 2018.

Furthermore, it has happened in a playoff game before. In an AFC Divisional Round playoff game against the Houston Texans in 2020, the Chiefs staff also ran out of fireworks at Arrowhead Stadium in a 51-31 victory. Mahomes threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns in that one.

Perhaps the team needs to invest in a larger supply of fireworks for the rest of the playoffs.
