Petersburg council considers reducing amount of overdue taxes and bills – Correct Success
PETERSBURG – City Council will consider one motion that could affect the bottom-line for a number of residents in the city. Two other agenda items being considered have to do with bringing historic background and more arts to Downtown Petersburg.
Motion to have city manager “reduce” some overdue taxes and bills
Council members are set to consider a motion that would direct the city manager to crate an action plan with timelines by February 2022, related to reducing certain past-due taxes and bills. The agenda lists the following items to be considered:
To reduce past-due personal property taxes to as close to zero as is feasible.
To reduce past-due real estate taxes to as close to zero as is feasible.
To reduce past-due utility bills to as close to zero as is feasible.
To collect the deficiency owing the City after a sale is held to collect past-due real estate taxes.
