How to watch Magic vs. Knicks basketball game

Who’s Playing

New York @ Orlando

Current Records: New York 34-44; Orlando 20-58

What to Know

The New York Knicks might have tired legs after a game yesterday as they head on the road against the Orlando Magic at 6 p.m. ET April 3 at Amway Center. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

This past Saturday, the Knicks lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers at home by a decisive 119-101 margin. New York’s loss came about despite a quality game from power forward Obi Toppin, who had 20 points. Toppin had some trouble finding his footing against the Charlotte Hornets this past Wednesday, so this was a step in the right direction. Toppin’s points were the most he has had all season.

Meanwhile, Orlando ended up a good deal behind the Toronto Raptors when they played this past Friday, losing 102-89. Orlando was down 85-63 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. One thing holding the Magic back was the mediocre play of point guard Cole Anthony, who did not have his best game: he played for 26 minutes but put up just eight points on 3-for-10 shooting and four turnovers.

New York is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.

New York is now 34-44 while Orlando sits at 20-58. A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Knicks have only been able to knock down 43.60% percent of their shots, which is the fourth lowest field goal percentage in the league. The Magic have experienced some struggles of their own as they are second worst in the league in points per game, with only 104 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
