2022 NBA 3-Point Contest odds, picks: All-Star Weekend predictions, best bets from expert on 84-66 run

Some of the best long-distance shooters in the league will showcase their skills this weekend in the 2022 NBA MTN DEW 3-Point Contest. The competition will be the second event of All-Star Saturday Night, which begins at 8 p.m. ET and takes place at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. Reigning champion Steph Curry will not be on hand to defend his title, but Fred VanVleet and Patty Mills are among eight participants attempting to capture the crown.

VanVleet and Mills are +450 co-favorites (risk $100 to win $450) in the latest 2022 NBA 3-Point Contest odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Trae Young (+500), Desmond Bane (+550), Zach LaVine (+600), Luke Kennard (+700), CJ McCollum (+1000) and Karl-Anthony Towns (+1200) round out the field. Before locking in any 2022 NBA 3-Point Contest picks, be sure to check the NBA All-Star Weekend predictions and betting advice from SportsLine NBA guru Mike Barner.

Barner is one of the most respected voices in the industry, and his work has appeared in Sports Illustrated and on Yahoo, RotoWire and KFFL. He’s also been featured on ESPN Radio. He digs deep into the data, examining team trends and projecting game outcomes. If there’s anybody who can spot an edge in a matchup or identify a player in position to break out, it’s him.

Barner’s expertise has been on full display lately. He is on an amazing 85-66-2 run with his last 153 against-the-spread picks, returning $1,235 to $100 players.

In addition, in last year’s 3-Point Contest, Barner successfully picked Steph Curry (+175) to win. Anyone who has followed him is way up.

Now, Barner has analyzed the 2022 NBA 3-Point Contest from all angles and just locked in his coveted picks and All-Star Weekend predictions. You can only see his 3-Point Contest picks at SportsLine.

One surprise: Barner is fading LaVine. The 26-year-old small forward missed the Chicago Bulls‘ final three games before the All-Star break with a knee injury but has been cleared to return when the team’s season resumes next Thursday. LaVine, who also was selected to play in the All-Star Game for the second time in his career, will take part in the 3-Point Contest for the third straight year.

LaVine made his debut in the event in 2020 and just missed advancing to the final as he finished fourth in the first round with 23 points. He again was unable to move on last year, recording 22 points to tie for fourth place. LaVine had made 39.9 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc in 47 games this season and was 10-of-23 over his final three contests before being sidelined.

How to make 2022 NBA 3-Point Contest picks

Barner’s top pick is a participant who has been red-hot from 3-point range this season. He is including this player in his All-Star weekend bets, and so should you. You can only see who it is, and which NBA 3-Point Contest bets to back, at SportsLine.
