Who’s Playing
Providence @ Georgetown
Current Records: Providence 19-2; Georgetown 6-14
What to Know
The #15 Providence Friars are 9-3 against the Georgetown Hoyas since January of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success Sunday. Providence and Georgetown will face off in a Big East battle at noon ET at Capital One Arena. The Friars should still be riding high after a victory, while Georgetown will be looking to get back in the win column.
Things were close when Providence and the St. John’s Red Storm clashed last Tuesday, but Providence ultimately edged out the opposition 86-82. Four players on Providence scored in the double digits: guard Jared Bynum (19), center Nate Watson (16), forward Noah Horchler (14), and guard Aljami Durham (14). Bynum had some trouble finding his footing against the Marquette Golden Eagles last week, so this was a step in the right direction. Jared Bynum’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, the Hoyas ended up a good deal behind St. John’s when they played this past Thursday, losing 90-77. Guard Aminu Mohammed had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 31 minutes but putting up just four points on 1-for-13 shooting.
Providence is the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it’s been tough sledding overall. They are 5-1 ATS in away games but only 13-8 all in all.
Georgetown’s loss took them down to 6-14 while Providence’s win pulled them up to 19-2. In Providence’s win, Bynum had 19 points and Noah Horchler had 14 points in addition to seven rebounds. We’ll see if Georgetown have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
