A Southern battle is on tap between the Mercer Bears and the Wofford Terriers at 7 p.m. ET on Monday at Hawkins Arena. The teams split their matchups last year, with Wofford winning the first 72-69 at home and Mercer taking the second 62-61.
The Bears have to be aching after a bruising 80-50 loss to the Furman Paladins this past Saturday. The top scorer for Mercer was guard Kamar Robertson (13 points).
Meanwhile, the UNCG Spartans typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday Wofford proved too difficult a challenge. Wofford captured a comfortable 85-66 win. Their success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but guard Max Klesmit led the charge as he had 18 points and five assists along with five rebounds.
The Bears got away with a 62-61 win when the two teams previously met in March of last year. Their victory shoved the Terriers out of the playoffs, so they have a target on their back.
