What to Know
The Minnesota Timberwolves will be returning home after a two-game road trip. They will take on the Los Angeles Lakers at 10 p.m. ET Friday at Target Center. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Minnesota didn’t have too much trouble with the Denver Nuggets on the road on Wednesday as they won 124-107. The Timberwolves can attribute much of their success to shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who shot 10-for-14 from beyond the arc and finished with 38 points and five rebounds, and center Karl-Anthony Towns, who had 32 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Los Angeles ultimately got the result they were hoping for on Wednesday with a 107-104 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Point guard Russell Westbrook and small forward LeBron James were among the main playmakers for Los Angeles as the former almost posted a triple-double on 23 points, ten boards, and nine dimes and the latter had 24 points and five assists.
Barring any buzzer beaters, Minnesota is expected to win a tight contest. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
Minnesota is now 13-15 while the Lakers sit at 16-13. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Timberwolves come into the matchup boasting the fourth most steals per game in the league at 8.86. Less enviably, Los Angeles has allowed their opponents an average of 8.7 steals per game, the fifth most in the league. In other words, they will need to work extra hard to take care of the ball.
